Institutional Strength

  • There are following strengths of Government Arts College, Shahera:
  • Democratic and active leadership of the principal
  • Qualified  teachers  with  sufficient  qualification  (majority  of    teaching faculty has PH.D. degree, committed and experienced).
  • An able, visionary and participative management of the college
  • Sufficient infrastructure for study including class rooms, seminar hall, library, computer lab, counseling centre and meditation hall
  • Extra-income generating courses for students Secured environment and safety initiatives
  • Commitment of total transparency in admission, appointment and evaluation Clean, calm and peaceful campus with environmental consciousness
  • Value added courses and activities for students Students- centric approaches
    modern and upto date library
  • Prepares students for competitive examinations
  • One of the largest colleges of humanities offering subjects of Arts in the district.
  • Timely and authentic conduction of internal assessment strictly according to affiliated university norms De centralization of power from authority to various committees
  • Well-developed infrastructural facilities for co-curriculum activities including large play-ground, garden, sports room, NCC room, NSS room, girls’ common room, canteen and large campus
  • Rural college located on Mahisagar Highway and connected with the nearby villages around 20 Kms

Institutional Weakness

  • There are following weaknesses of Government Arts College, Shahera:
  • No research activities- No research projects
  • Less Workshop and seminar/conference organized
  • No teachers and students from other state and country
  • No 12B from UGC so that no financial help to our faculty development
  • No other funds or grant from other organization/ depends only on Gujarat government funds
  • Non-committal and passive recruitment policy of government, number of teaching and non-teaching posts are lying vacant.
  • Students get married before course completion.
  • Less number of MOUs with Industry/Institution for interaction and lack of students and faculty exchange programme
  • Limited role in the curriculum design. Poor communication skills of student

Institutional Opportunity

  • There are following opportunities of Government Arts College, Shahera:
  • Need based new degree programs and courses can be introduced. Post-graduation course can be started
  • New distance course with IGNOU or BAOU can be started Gym for physical education can be started
  • Large campus area will be used for new academic programmes
  • More extra-income generating courses and value added courses can be started ICT based technology up-gradation can be done.
  • Immense opportunities to develop good sports’ complex.
  • More linkage and MOUs for student and faculty exchange programme can be initiated with other colleges and universities
  • Scope for faculty training.
  • Will organise seminar, conference and workshop To increase alumni participation and support
  • ICT facility is very limited and every class has to be transformed into a smart class Laboratory facility has to be improved with more equipments and computer

  • To improve students result in semester system
  • Preparing our economically and socially backward students for competitive world Job placement
  • Vacant teaching and non-teaching posts by the Government
  • Due to tight schedule of semester system lack of time is found for research and extension activities
